doomsday blue

For Doomsday Blue — Ireland’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 — I led and directed a small makeup team to bring the video’s dark fantasy world to life through transformative character design and prosthetic makeup artistry.

Across the project, I designed and created three distinct visual identities, each rooted in mythology, performance, and theatrical horror.

The first was a fully prosthetic werewolf transformation, sculpted to feel feral, tragic, and cinematic. Using handcrafted prosthetics and detailed texturing, the creature was designed to blur the line between human and beast, embodying the raw chaos at the heart of the song.

In contrast, the Rococo-inspired look explored decadence and illusion: powdered skin, exaggerated silhouettes, and ornate detailing inspired by aristocratic portraiture, twisted into something eerie and dreamlike.

The final sigil-inspired look drew from ritualistic imagery and occult symbolism, transforming makeup into visual storytelling. Graphic shapes and symbolic placements turned the face into a living incantation, part performance, part spellwork.

Alongside the music video, I also worked on the winning Eurosong performance broadcast on RTÉ, helping shape the visual identity of a project that merged horror, fantasy, and alternative beauty on an international stage.

The result is a world that feels both theatrical and dangerous, where monsters, folklore, and glamour collide beneath the blue glow of apocalypse.
